How to read a pallet pattern

The top view gives the layer, the elevation gives the stack. What every number means, and what the pattern does not promise.

Columns or interlocked

In columns, every carton sits squarely on the one below: compression travels best, the stack is stiff but slides as one block. Interlocked, layers cross like a brick wall: the pallet holds together better, at the cost of less direct load on carton corners.

What the pattern guarantees, and what it does not promise

Guaranteedgeometry: everything fits the footprint and stays under the height
Countedcartons, layers, total weight, load on the bottom carton

A pattern is geometry and weights, not a compression test. The carton's admissible load remains your supplier's figure, and securing the load remains the carrier's trade.
